Because we understand the multiple demands you face as a vehicle importer, Kiwi Car Carriers has developed the KIPS facility - an automatic insurance cover led by QBE (International) Ltd.  With KIPS you get specialist Insurance cover for your imported vehicles.  There is virtually no paperwork to claim the cover as Kiwi Car Carriers automatically provides the KIPS cover, at no cost to you.

We have tailored this Insurance product to meet the specific needs of vehicle importers.  This means that you are getting amongst the widest possible coverage available on your vehicle.

 

 

SPECIALIST COVER FOR YOUR VEHICLES

KIPS will provide automatic insurance for your vehicles (note that inner cargo is excluded from cover - as are vehicles that are deemed to have already sustained accident damage, or are not driveable), from the time of purchase in Japan until delivery onto your premises or other commercial premises by transporter (first place of rest after transporting from port discharge area).

 

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Marine Insurance  cover terminates in the following circumstances (Whichever occurs first):

  1. 30 days after discharge from the vessel

  2. Delivery to the importers premises, or premises described in the Bill of Lading

  3. Delivery to other commercial premises instructed by the insured

  4. When the vehicle is driven under its own power - except when incidental to the loading & unloading.

     Delivery into Bonded store that is incidental to the transit of the vehicle shall continue to be covered by KIPS, provided the total period from the date of discharge from the vessel does not exceed 30 days. If the vehicle has not left the port or bonded store after 30 days from the date of discharge from the vessel, cover will automatically cease and become the responsibility of the importer to insure.

Fire - pilfering - stranding - general average - mishandling - theft - earthquake - sinking - collision (whilst driven incidental to loading and unloading).

PRINCIPLE EXCLUSIONS INCLUDE

Delay causing loss of market - pre-existing damage - inner cargo - damage caused while the vehicle is being driven (unless being driven incidental to loading and unloading) - Deck cargo is covered under "B" clauses only - Vehicles over NZ$50,000 CIF + 10% value are not covered above this limit and require separate insurance arrangements. You will receive advice on how to make a claim under the insurance policy.  A policy excess applies to all claims (unless recovery from responsible party is achieved).  You must notify us of any claim within 7 days of discharge and complete the claim documentation within 14 days.

Please note:  

Kiwi Car Carriers are not owners of the vessel carrying cars from Japan, and operates solely as an agent for the purpose of facilitating such carriage. The contracts of carriage are between the vehicle owner and the owner of the carrying vessel.

Kiwi Car Carriers shall not, to the maximum extent permitted by law, be responsible for any loss or damage to any cargo described in the B / L issued, or the contents or accessories of any cargo described in the B / L issued, for failure to deliver, misdelivery or delay in delivery; or for any consequential loss arising out of any of the above circumstances.
